Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are non-surgical, injectable treatments designed to restore volume, smooth lines, and enhance facial contours for a youthful and natural appearance. Using hyaluronic acid-based or other biocompatible formulas, fillers can plump lips, lift cheeks, define the jawline, soften nasolabial folds, and improve the overall symmetry of the face.

During the procedure, a trained professional carefully injects the filler into targeted areas, tailoring the treatment to each client’s unique facial structure and desired outcome. Results are immediate, providing a refreshed, rejuvenated look without the need for surgery or extensive downtime.

Dermal fillers are ideal for clients looking to combat the effects of aging, enhance natural features, or restore facial volume lost over time. With proper care, results can last several months to over a year, depending on the type of filler used and individual metabolism, making it a convenient and effective solution for long-lasting beauty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments used to restore or enhance volume, improve facial contours, soften the appearance of certain lines and wrinkles, and create a more balanced facial appearance.

Depending on the type of filler selected, treatment can be used in areas such as the lips, cheeks, chin, jawline and other areas where volume or contouring may be desired.

Radiesse® is an injectable dermal filler made with calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA). It provides immediate correction while also stimulating the body's natural collagen and elastin production over time.

Radiesse® can be used to restore volume, improve facial contour and address certain signs of aging. It can also be used for selected areas of the hands.

The main difference is the material and the way each product works.

Many traditional dermal fillers are made with hyaluronic acid (HA) and primarily provide volume and hydration. Radiesse® is made with calcium hydroxylapatite and provides structural support while also stimulating collagen and elastin production.

Your injector will recommend the appropriate product based on your anatomy, treatment goals and the area being treated.

Depending on the filler selected and your individual needs, filler may be used for:

  • Lips

  • Cheeks

  • Chin

  • Jawline

  • Nasolabial folds

  • Marionette lines

  • Facial contouring

  • Other areas where volume restoration may be appropriate

Not every filler is appropriate for every area. Your injector will determine the safest and most suitable treatment approach.

Radiesse® may be used to improve facial volume and contour and can also be used for selected areas of the hands.

Radiesse® may be particularly suitable when the goal is to improve structural support and stimulate collagen production rather than simply add soft volume.

Some results from dermal filler and Radiesse® may be visible immediately following treatment.

However, swelling can temporarily affect the appearance of the treated area. With Radiesse®, additional improvement may develop gradually as collagen and elastin production is stimulated.

The longevity of injectable treatments varies depending on the product used, treatment area, amount injected, metabolism, lifestyle and individual response.

Your injector can provide a more specific estimate during your consultation.

Most patients experience some degree of temporary discomfort during injections. Many injectable fillers contain lidocaine, and additional numbing may be used depending on the treatment area and provider preference.

You may experience temporary tenderness, swelling or sensitivity following treatment.

Most patients can return to many normal activities shortly after treatment, but some swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising may occur.

Downtime varies depending on the treatment area, product and individual response.

Your injector will provide specific aftercare instructions and recommendations regarding exercise, alcohol, makeup, heat and other activities.

Temporary side effects may include:

  • Swelling

  • Bruising

  • Redness

  • Tenderness

  • Mild discomfort

  • Itching

  • Temporary firmness or lumps at the injection site

These effects generally improve as the area heals.

As with any injectable treatment, dermal fillers carry risks. Rare but serious complications can occur, including vascular occlusion, tissue injury, infection, skin necrosis and, in very rare circumstances, vision abnormalities or blindness.

Your injector will discuss the potential risks, benefits and alternatives during your consultation.

In some patients, different injectable products may be used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. The products may be selected for different purposes, such as structural support, volume restoration or facial contouring.

Your treatment plan should be individualized by your qualified injector.

Before treatment, your provider will give you specific instructions based on your planned procedure.

Be sure to disclose all medications, supplements, allergies, previous filler treatments and relevant medical history to your injector.

Do not stop prescribed medications unless specifically instructed to do so by your healthcare professional.

The best treatment depends on your facial anatomy, skin quality, existing volume, treatment goals and desired outcome.

A consultation at Beauty Villa Spa and Academy allows your injector to assess your individual needs and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
